Decroux-Artaud (A grammar for the actor)

Conducted by director Ana Teixeira, the workshop proposes an immersion in the technique of Etienne Decroux and its confrontation with improvisation and vocal practices related to the study of "glossolalia" and the "affective athleticism" of Antonin Artaud.

The Actor training at Amok Teatro is based on Étienne Decroux’s technique, a detailed study of body movement and the "scenic body." The technique aims for a complete understanding of the human body's expressive organs, control of joints articulation, rhythm, and muscular tensions. It involves the decomposition and recomposition of body and voice, allowing the actor to become aware of their expressive possibilities and frees themselves from the automatisms that condition their movement and gesture.

The workshop provides concrete tools for actors to develop their plasticity, expressive vocabulary, and ability to generate and control energy. The study includes technique, repertoire, and improvisation.
